This monitor is perfect as a side monitor when running solely on my laptop. The first monitor started popping and crackling within about 60 days but after some initial miscommunications with the vendor, the vendor provided a replacement and included a 3 year warranty with free returns. This is an excellent monitor for its intended function and the vendor support is very good.A very high quality portable monitor, it work with my Microsoft surface 8 very well. The difference between my larger monitor was too much.I wanted a vertical display to go beside my laptop. This isn't that - at least not yet because I haven't found a way to stand it up sideways low enough and not have cabling issues. I don't have that whizbang stand they show in the listing with the "portrait" mode. It looks like it perhaps mounts onto that stand as I don't see any shelves to hold up the monitor (and bother the ports/input buttons). I'll keep looking. But I'm not complaining - it looks GREAT - horizontally. I've got a 17 inch laptop and it's basically doubled the monitor width - sort of like the extra wide screens. I never knew how much I could use another monitor until I set this one up. I'm considering getting one for the other side, but I think it would actually be too much - a neck workout.I don't really want just one monitor anymore - it feels really constrained. It's also super convenient for setting up servers. I plug it in via HDMI, and it gives me great video and audio enough for a nice smooth install process. I have also run it from USB C and it works that way as well, though I have always done that after booting for a second live monitor. I've used it on many flavors of Linux and Windows 8-11 and it's always just worked (at least via HDMI). Also, when using USB C, it doesn't need the power via it's USB block - it gets power via the USB C. At least not on the machines I tried it on.Plus, it's super convenient for machine setup that I can power it from my phone charging brick (via USB A - USB C cable) which outputs 5V and 1.5A (it can output more, but it has a readout showing the current/voltage).That draw puts this at 7.5W for that type of console activity. Not bad.Filed under strange are that the volume up and down to the exact opposite. And finally, it can display your phone screen (if your phone supports it) over the included USB C cable. There is also a micro USB OTG that I think would work with a camera or microscope, but I have yet to try that. In any case, the phone image is super cool. Besides things that are just too small on the phone (like PDF's) it's really nice for videochat/facetime - though the orientation can get non-optimal. I've tried to touch it a few times in phone mode, and that's embarrassing because it's not a touch screen. But it would be cool if it were a touch screen, right? Anyway, the picture is really great for my phone though - way better than TV or Projector. To sum up - I recommend this. I like it more than I expected, and my only concern is that I might break it as I move it around a lot, but it seems very solid and sturdy so far. If I break it, I'll come back and update the review, but it will most likely be my fault.5 out of 5 stars. This screen fits every parameter that I was looking for in a portable monitor. The 17in IPS screen is perfect for a larger viewable area but still small enough to take with you on the go. The 1080p resolution is adequate for this screen size. Some screens can go up to 4K but what is the point if the interface is microscopic. The 300 nits is enough for all environments but the brightest sunlight. There are even speakers for sound output.PROS- 100% SRGB coverage- Needs just one USB-C connection for power and display- It had no gaudy logo emblazoned on the front panel.- 3ms response timeCONS- Could be a little brighter but understandable since its power limited to USB-C connection- Sound could be better but that's not the main focus of monitor.Works well as described would recommendI have a few portable monitors for my Macbook Pro - I use each for different things - small ones for meetings, larger ones for trips, double ones for longer trips, etc. This one is the largest one I have and while I don't think it's as handy to travel with (simply because it's BIG) it is EXCELLENT for adding a second monitor to your laptop workstation at home (which is how I am using it) You can either put it on a stand (you can pick one up on Amazon for around $20ish) or use the cover as a stand similar to how the iPad does. It's very easy to connect - literally just plug and play. The picture quality is great...so is the resolution. It has the option to connect via USB C and HDMI. Power supply is USB. It does have a speaker as well which is surprisingly good for a portable monitor and definitely better than others I have tried. One thing that this monitor has that others don't is that it has a spot to mount it on the back should you choose to. This is an excellent touch and if you are planning on using this only at home, a great bonus. As far as portable monitors go, this is probably the best one I've used as far as quality, functionality, and design (which is slim and sleek despite being bigger than the average) I highly recommend this for a laptop work station (or travel if you have a bag that will accommodate it with a cover on)This is a capacious 17 inch display that instantly worked with my Macbook Pro. I connected it via USB-C, it gave me a message telling me to be sure to connect to the right port, and it showed up immediately. Optionally, it can also be connected via HDMI (cable included) and powered via a USB power supply which is included. Screen quality is quite good, and the size is excellent for working with digital media. Color rendition is fine - no obvious problems - although whites have a slightly cool cast out of the box. Viewing angles are good as well. Sound quality of the built in speakers is OK for reproducing voice - it sounds fine but there is little low-end.The cover acts as a folding stand similar to tablets - very easy to use. Controls are on the side of the display - they work OK. Bezels are thin on three sides of the display giving the display a sleek, modern look. On the back are two threaded holes for a VESA mount, a nice touch. This is a nice upgrade from my smaller 15” portable display - the extra size is most welcome when working on the go, and the slender profile just fits in my laptop bag.
